The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the UAE and the Korean Cultural Center in the UAE are excited to present the Korea-UAE collaborative performance, "Stars, Lights, and Dances," under the theme "Beyond Fear and Darkness."
This remarkable event brings together the LUXbit Art Company, a Korean dance troupe featuring visually impaired dancers, and Ahmed Al Hashemi, a 14-year-old autistic pianist from the UAE. Through their extraordinary talents, they will deliver a powerful message of hope, resilience, and overcoming adversity.
Founded in 2013, LUXbit Art Company combines visually impaired and non-impaired dancers, performing works that blend traditional Korean dance with ballet. Their mission is to demonstrate that disability is an inconvenience, not a barrier. The company holds annual performances, and in 2023, they showcased their work at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
The word "LUX" is derived from "L" (Light), "U" (Unique), and "X" (Infinity), originating from the phrase "Generation X," which refers to a generation of limitless possibilities. "LUX" also means "light" in Latin, encompassing the ideas of light, uniqueness, and infinite potential.
Ahmed Al Hashemi, a 14-year-old Emirati pianist and composer, is widely regarded as a musical prodigy. Despite his autism, Ahmed has won multiple international competitions and performed over 40 times in countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. He uses his sense of touch to recognize musical notes and communicates with the world through his music.
The performance will take place on October 28 at 6 PM at the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination in Shakhbout City, Abu Dhabi. No reservations are needed, and the event is free and open to all audiences.
Mr. Yong Hee Lee, the Cultural Attaché of the Korean Embassy, warmly invites everyone to attend this meaningful event and support the performers in sharing their inspiring message of hope.
