Sharjah Art Foundation: Learning Programme for Children and Families

Saturday, 6 July 2024 and Wednesday, 10 July 2024

Taking inspiration from Omer Khairy’s and Mounir Canaan’s works, on view in our ongoing exhibition Drawing Time: Duets, make your own comics, fashion a self-portrait, or reveal your personality through collage. You can also develop basic carpentry skills as you assemble a side table.



Running from 6 July to 22 August, the summer 2024 Learning Programme for Children and Families offers a range of workshops and courses at various Sharjah Art Foundation venues.



Conducted in both Arabic and English, sessions are led by specialised artists and art practitioners. The activities are free, and materials are provided.


Create a Comic with Ink

Ages 11–15

Date: Saturday, 6 July 2024



After viewing the drawings of Omer Khairy, design a comic about your life and community using ink on paper.



Build a Self-Portrait Shadow Box

Ages 6–10

Date: Saturday, 6 July 2024



Inspired by Omer Khairy’s Portrait, construct a shadow box containing your self-portrait and other elements that communicate your thoughts and feelings.



Experiment with Collage

Ages 6–10

Date: Wednesday, 10 July 2024



Express yourself through a collage inspired by a Mounir Canaan painting. Work with coloured paper, acrylic markers and crayons.



Discover Carpentry ‬‬

Ages 11–15

Date: Wednesday, 10 July 2024



Assemble a side table with tiles on top. Learn to use rubber hammers and screwdrivers and apply adhesive and grout.
