Kim Bu-young, mayor of Changnyeong-gun, accused of 'violation of the Public Official Election Act'


Kim Bu-yong, who was found dead before his trial for violating the Public Offices Election Act, reportedly left a suicide note claiming his innocence.

According to the National Police Agency on the 9th, Kim Gunsu was found dead at 9:40 a.m. that day in a mountain in Toechon-ri, Changnyeong-eup, Changnyeong County.

Kim's wife called the police at 8:57 a.m. that day, saying, "My husband left yesterday morning and has not come home," and the police tracked Kim's movements and reportedly found him dead near the hiking trail.

At the time of the discovery, a suicide note was reportedly found on Kim's clothes, stating that he was "innocent in connection with the case of violating the Public Offices Election Act."

Kim Gunsu was charged by the prosecutor's office with bribing electors (violating the Public Offices Election Act) in connection with the June 1 local elections last year and was scheduled for his first trial on the afternoon of 11 June.

On the other hand, Kim Gunsu was accused of delivering 130 million won on three occasions after promising to provide 100 million won to three people in exchange for having an acquaintance run as a candidate of the MDP in order to disperse the votes of independent candidate Han Han-woo, who was a strong rival as the incumbent at the time, between March ~ June last year.
